At the beginning of September, when the weather was nice, our Austrian friends decided to make a short flight expedition between (and over) the highest European mountain peaks with their ATEC 321 Faeta NG. On their route they took several photos of amazing alpine scenery, which we would like to share with you. It is worth mentioning the Faeta NG´s performance and altitude which it had to overcome and managed without problems. Even in 15,500 ft the airplane had continued climbning with a speed of over 220 km/h (118 kt) TAS.
Below are the photos as mentioned. Can you recognize the famous peaks which Faeta NG conquered on its route? To make this quiz easier for you, we can tell you that the departure point was Aosta airport in Italy, and we add a short comment to each of the photos. Enjoy the quiz!
1. This well-known mountain is a part of a huge massif on the border between France and Italy. Its height is regularly re-measured and the last resulted value is 4,805.59 m (15,766.4 ft).
2. This mountain is a popular tourist destination in southeastern France. The height of its summit is 3,842 m (12,605 ft). Here you can find a panoramic viewing platform with a glass bridge (skywalk) called "Step into the Void". A cable car which leads to its summit is the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world with its altitude gain of over 2,800 m (9,200 ft).
3. You can find this peak in the Pennine Alps on the border between Italy and Switzerland. It measures 4,559 m (14,957 ft) and you can visit the highest hut in Europe on its summit.
4. This iconic, pointed peak measures 4,478 m (14,692 ft) and is located on the border between Italy and Switzerland. The four steep walls, rising above the surrounding glaciers, face the four compass points and thus create near-symmetrical pyramid. It belongs among the deadliest mountains in the world and for a long time it remained one of the last unconquered main Alpine peaks.
